London Gatwick customs times

I am a US citizen flying from Florida to London Gatwick on Norwegian Airlines. I get in at 12:30 PM. I'm looking to catch a flight that same day from there to Dublin and I see a flight on Ryan air that leaves at 3 PM. Do I have to go through customs twice at the London Gatwick airport? And assuming I get it into London Gatwick at 1230 will that be enough time to catch the Ryan air flight at 3? The next flight is after 5 PM and I don't want to wait that long if it is not necessary

I can suggest an answer only to your first question. Customs processing rarely takes any time. The line-up will be for the border security and immigration. You must enter Ireland rather than transfer through a secure area, because you must retrieve your luggage to check it in with Ryanair (budget airlines rarely transfer bags to another carrier.) With Ryanair, you get what you pay for so read the instructions on their website carefully and don't assume anything. It is worth noting that if you miss Ryanair's connecting flight, you will have to purchase a new ticket, probably priced much higher because it is day-of-flight.

Southam is right but I <i>think</i> he mis-typed the following: >>You must enter <strike>Ireland</strike> the UK rather than transfer through a secure area, because you must retrieve your luggage to check it in with Ryanair<<

Customs is nothing -- it is Immigration that can take time. But me personally -- I'd never book RyanAir directly after arrival. I'd give it more time. It might be a breeze and you could make your flight w/ no trouble. But if your arrival is an hour late you are SOL.
