Icelandair 40 minute stop?

I am planning to fly roundtrip from Seattle to Frankfurt in October, and am finding flights in the $1200-1300 range, except for Iceland Air which has a convenient flight for $900. But the SEA-FRA flight (#680) has a 40 minute stop in Reykjavik. 40 minutes! Is that possible? Can there possibly be a change of planes involved? Not sure how to research this and I am hoping someone can help me out.

Icelandair wouldn't allow you to book an impossible connection - but you will pass through immigration into Schengen in Iceland so don't dawdle. Better still book a stopover as Iceland is interesting and worth an overnight stay.

I had a similar stopover in the middle of the night a few years ago. I got my passport stamped, went up the escalator, used the restroom, and boarded the next flight to Paris. No problem at all.
It's not a very big airport as I recall.

Thanks for the post, azzure. I was seeing other IcelandAir flights out of Seattle with similar 40-50 minute connections and wondered about it. Last year, I had a 1 hour connection in Amsterdam and didn't make it, but my flight from SEA was late by 15 minutes. Good to know that Reykjavik is an option
