Finally a refund! Thanks for all of the encouragement and support. Good luck to those still waiting for their refunds. I agree with AJPeabody. Don’t give up.

I know that the person in Iceland is who made this happen. The credit card company was a big disappointment ruling against me even though I had an email saying that I was due the refund. The credit card company had the nerve to take credit for getting the refund. They did the opposite.

It seems to never end. Credit card confirmed in writing (multiply notices) that a refund was issued. Login to my account online and no credit reflected in the balance. Another phone call to the company and they agreed that I did not get the credit even though they told me that I received a refund. Reviewed all of the records and sure enough no credit. What a waste of my time. Two of us at home plus the customer service person agreed. These guys are terrible to do business with. A nightmare.

I hope by now you have received your refunds! We had three flights canceled with Iceland Air and finally received 100% refunds for all of them sent to our credit card. We got back around $3500.I had feared they might go out of business!

Capital One came through for me. First class round trip air with SAS. SAS kept telling me I was "in the queue" for a refund. After a couple months I contacted my credit card company and within two weeks I had the credit to my account. All it took was one phone call to Capital One.

Glad Iceland Air repaid you too, finally. Did you have to lay out the money by paying the credit card bill? My charges were close to five thousand dollars and Citi Bank wanted me to pay that much in charges that I did not owe or else pay large interest and maybe penalties for late payments on charges that I Proved I did not owe. Iceland Air knew that High interest charges were about to accumulate and did not seem to care. Both the airline and credit card company were causing harm . Neither are saints and caused many months of frustration and heart ache, literally at times. I was already near the end of my third and last possible appeal with Citi Bank when The third party that I sought help from On the ground in Iceland went to bat for me and forced Iceland Air to issue my refund. I will never go to Iceland unless there is another airline that Starts flying there. I could not possibly fly Iceland AIr And their red eye Only flights after this. At the time of booking I was told that flights to and from theUS are red eyes because the daytime flights are all reserved in favor the European Tourist market. There are too many other places to explore. I also do not plan on using Citibank Visa after this Either.

We went through our credit card company. They gave us immediate provisional credit, and then a fe weeks later we got the actual refund and the official letter to go with it. I am very glad I did not wait on Iceland Air. When I applied for the refund, they gave me two case numbers, which makes no sense at all since all 5 tickets were purchased at the same time. A few days after we received the letter from American Express, I got an email from Iceland Air saying they had refunded our money. Then this morning I received another email from Iceland Air stating that they are sorry it is taking so long, but refund request is still in line to be taken care of. They have no idea what they are doing.

In pre-COVID days I always found Capital One to be great when dealing with strange charges and disputes, such as calling the merchant while keeping me on line.

I almost booked through AmEx and was sorry That I didn’t in hind sight. The fare was lower using the card that I used taking into consideration the cost of the flight and the 3% cash back. But in the end not worth it. Nice to know some cards still stand with their customers. Citi Bank Costco card did issue a temporary credit that they unilaterally reversed when Iceland air Seemed to ignored them. I ultimately had to get government support here but they were backed up and there was a long wait. Then someone on the ground in Iceland who was the one who actually forced the airline to issue the credit. Then citi tried to take credit for it. My three appeals Ran out after months and Citi was forcing me to pay Fourty six hundred dollars that I had documented with notices from the airline that I did not owe. They kept reversing the temporary credits which would Trigger high interest rates monthly If I did not pay up. and perhaps late fees. I am surprised Costco would link Their reputation to such a credit card. The press published a piece on citi bank credit cards reputation during this time stating that citi had more complaints by a very large margin and specified specified cases like mind as one of the Reasons. They favor the vendors over their customers.

I might have gotten happy too soon. I received a letter from Capital One yesterday requesting more information. The letter said the credit they gave me could be reversed.

ece--We use our AMEX for most everything, especially for travel since we get 5x points. Our other cc is through USAA, so I know we are covered there too. They were a huge help when we had an issue with an ATM on a trip a few years ago, even though that was the regular banking dept, not the cc dept.

I was issued several temporary credits when I disputed various travel related charges on my USAA credit card. Then, inexplicably, USAA sided with Expedia after receiving a nonsensical rebuttal to the disputed airline charges.

I was livid, as United had already refunded the cost of flights to Expedia, advising us that Expedia would then refund to us. So, essentially, Expedia wanted to just keep the money that had been returned to them.

If anyone at USAA had taken the time to read Expedia's rebuttal, they'd have seen it for what it was, contradictory and inaccurate.

So, we sent USAA the letter from United that said we were due a refund, and they immediately reversed their decision and gave us a permanent credit.
