How much can I cram in my 1-qt. bag?
So I hear toiletries have to fit "comfortably." Not to anthropomorphize my toiletries, but I don't think the shampoo will mind the squeeze.
All my toiletries are less than 3 oz (most are under 2 oz - thanks minimuz.biz!) and I can get about 10 small items into the bag, with a little squishing. Ziptop closes with no prob though (even though there is some overlap in the bag.)
Question: Is there a limit to the number of goods in the bag? No where am I finding an answer to this.
Also - do baby wipes count as a liquid? (they are wet.) And...does my other toiletry bag that contains things like toothbrush, q-tips need to also be in a clear bag too?
Any assistance would be most helpful!

Baby wipes, toothbrush, etc go elsewhere. Only liquids need to go to the 1-qt bag.
There's no limit of how many, but you cannot bring more than one of each item. So, you can't have two 3-oz bottles of mouthwash. Now, if you have a handcream, a facecream, a bodylotion, a fingercream and a toecream in your bag, I'd say you're risking getting a thorough search by TSA. There are lots of grey areas in it, and I discourage you to push the limit.

Is that really true? So much for my standard practice of going through the amenity bags and picking out the lipbalm

Patty: Do you mean that you go through other passengers' amenity kits and take their lip balm? Or do you mean that you collect (and hoard) lip balms from the amenity kits you're given on various flights? (If so, just transfer Flight A's lip balm to your suitcase before Flight B, assuming you don't have connecting long-haul lip balm-ful flights in a row.)
And thereadbaron: Why do you need shampoo on the plane? Are you travelling without checking any luggage? Most hotels have shampoo, and body lotion and lots of other goodies. I know many of us are hooked on particular products, but I try to travel only with those that are absolutely essential and for which I'm incapable of accepting substitutes (for me, that's facial moisturiser and Aquafresh toothpaste). But I don't take either of them in my hand luggage (Listerine breathstrips + toothbrush are an adequate substitute for the flight).

I need shampoo on the plane because I dont plan on checking luggage. we are taking a cruise to the galapagos and I dont beleive the staterooms are really stocked with anything. It's not a standard cruiseship with tons of amenities.

Kate,
I thought someone might ask that. No, I don't go pilfering through other passengers amenity bags, just my own and maybe that of my traveling companion(s) if they don't want the stuff.
I can transfer the extras to my checked baggage on arrival in the US if I have a connection here and hope that non-US security don't care that I have more than one lipbalm on my connections elsewhere

I took my quart bag on the plane with 2 small bottles of shampoo and 2 tubes of toothpaste as well as a few other items. I can't find my contact solution in 3 oz or smaller containers, so I just packed it in my contact case. No one looked twice either way.
