Help with DL ticket change BOS/CVG 11/23

My daughter has just found out her classes have been cancelled on Wednesday. She is currently booked on a 5:35 pm NS flight that is sold out. She would like to change to an earlier flight (1:00 or 3:30). Is there any way to do this other than stand-by? I have tried changing her itinerary online but they want the ticket price difference which is $800.

I forgot to mention that the other 2 flights have seats available.

You have my sympathies - got off phone with our college son last night at midnight with similar problem flying home - in reverse - he needs to leave later.

You could call and plead with agent on the phone - sometimes that works - my husband has done that when business plans change. Other than that, stand-by it is.

They won't do it now, but have her call DL Wednesday morning. If there are still seats available on those earlier ones, they can probably cofirm her on one of those instead of standing-by at the airport.

kyb....Delta has a 3 Hour StandBy provision.....Call reservations 3 hours prior to scheduled flight time(Same day she is ticketed for, of course). If there are any seats at all, regardless of class of service, in coach, they will confirm for $25 fee.Better than just going to the airport, right? Best Of Luck!

I saw that 3 hour provision on their website before I tried to rebook and couldn't quite understand it. So is she calls 3 hours before the 1:00 flight she might be able to change? I don't think she would have time to get to the airport and get through security, if that's the case. She will be coming from MIT campus to Logan and security is usually very slow the day before Thanksgiving.

You're right. She can only make that confirmation at 10am (no earlier) and pay $25 to get on the 1pm flight. So forget doing that.

I still think she should call early in the morning to see if they can do anything else for her. If she still wants to standby, then go hangout at Logan. Otherwise, just relax and take the 5:35pm. I think it's really not worth the trouble and money to get on the earlier flight.

Thanks! I guess I will let her make the final decision about hanging out at the airport.
