Help - fare went up before I've booked

Planning on flying one way to atlanta from newark in mid-august. I checked flights yesterday and there were several for $74 a ticket. I checked today and the same flights are now $117 a ticket. Did I miss out or do you think they may go back down? Any thoughts are much appreciated.

They may very well go up further and then back down again -- and that could happen in a matter of hours on the same day. A number of studies have been made on the best time and day to book a ticket, and most seem to indicate that early Wednesdays are your best bet. It's a gamble but you could wait until next Wed., or try again today. Or both. Good luck.

It's also good to try again late at night, especially just past midnight. Some airlines automatically free up unpaid reservations at midnight.

Well, even $117 per ticket is a very low fare. But what were you thinking when you didn't lock in at $74?

Flyboy - they were probably thinking "free". $74 is practically free!
