Given that virtually anytime I fly coach these days, I pony up for economy plus, I would be hard-pressed to think of an instance where I'd give up a seat I paid extra for. I agree with the other posters who opined that it all depends on whether the basketball player had the chance to pick seats ahead of time. If he did, then it's his problem. If he didn't, then that's a different story. But, of course, how is the OP supposed to know which scenario is accurate? Either way, looks like the basketball player better get used to paying more for F or Y+, like it or not.
