Emirates Carry On / Help

We are flying from JFK to Milan on Emirates. (business class)
The carry on limit is the usual 22 " for a suitcase ... they only
allow 12kg (26 lbs) which is going to be a challenge. The
22" is fine but the 12kg is going to be difficult. Does anyone
know how strict they are with the weight ? Thanks

They will probably gate check the bag.

There is zero chance they would gate-check the bag.

I think the above two responses illustrate that no one can give you a realistic answer. It will depend entirely on the counter and gate agents that day. All you can do is hope that you can carry the bag on, but be prepared to have to check it just in case. Have any items that you absolutely have to carry on with you separate and ready to go.

Twenty-six pounds is a lot for a carry on. Most airlines in my part of the world limit carry ons to 7 kg.

Having said that, (which doesn't help you I know), my experience with Middle Eastern airlines is that they're very lenient when it comes to luggage and passengers take just about anything and everything aboard.

Your experience may vary.

I am with the above poster. Middle Eastern airlines are VERY lenient with onboard luggage in my experience. Especially so in business and first as I have experienced.

If you're not lugging the bag around like it weighs twenty tons you probably won't have a problem.

If you're worried, just pack a foldable shopping bag to transfer things to just in case.
