Ebraer 345 Regional jet

We just discovered USAirways has reinstituted one non-stop flight Boston-Savannah/day on above 50 passenger jet. Any comments on this equipment?

Embraer has an ERJ-145 and I don't see a 345 in their lineup:

Would prefer a larger jet but you can't beat nonstop.

You are correct - I left out the "m" and meant 145. I do not like "fake planes" which I have randomly decided is any plane with fewer than 50 seats - so this is right on the edge of being a fake plane.

We flew an ERJ-145 (bmi, not US) RT between Manchester, England and Edinburgh last year and I actually rather liked it in comparison to the CRJ, to which I've grown all too accustomed on flights between Chicago and Jacksonville. It has 1-2 seating and I thought it felt roomier than the CRJs. Not much space in the overheads, though.

The ERJ-145 is actually a fine little plane, not on the egde of being a fake plane.

The seating is 1-2, and it is a little cramped. Overhead space is very limited - roll on bags that normall fit in a B737 or similar plane have to be gate checked on an RJ, but you'll get them back as soon as you exit the plane.

In spite of the small cabin, I like the RJ because it flys about as fast as a larger jet - none of this putt-putt prop plane that some regional airlines still offer. The load and unload fast as well.

American Eagle has a whole fleet of these and I fly them all the time on flights up to 2 hrs.

Thanks - just booked Savannah to Boston on one of these non-fake planes for husband after he drives with our son to Savannah. Good to know about size of overhead bins as he usually travels with oversized carry-on. I will let him know they will probably make him check it.

Good thing about people with large carryons and regional jet is that they'll gate-check it for you. You don't have to mess with it, and you don't have to wait for the bags at the carosel. Also there's basically no chance of losing your luggage, unless it's swallowed by the engine.

They'll take your large carryons right at the plane's door. After arrival, you wait right outside the plane's door to retrieve it.

He might prefer the aisle seat on the 2-seat side instead of the solo side. Because of the curve of the fuselage the window seats have a lack of some shoulder room. And a lack of head and foot room, too, I think. I was definitely better off in the "center" seat.

I have never flown Embraer 145 until very recently and rather liked it. I am not a good flyer on small planes as I am claustrophobic. However, the leg room was just like a 737. I would defintiely fly one again.

I am pretty short, so legroom/headroom is never a problem for me. Still, I booked myself a "B" seat for a recent trip on the ERJ-145. Nobody was seating at the "C" seat, so I tried sitting in that one too. It was fine with me, despite the curvature of the fuselage.

But if you're really tall, then you may find your shoulders very close to the walls on the "A" and "C" seats.

We fly it often from DAL to IAH when connecting to BJX on Continental.
We're both small so the seating is OK with checked bags (and it's fast).

Thanks for all the info. Flight was today. He had an exit row but changed it pre-boarding because he was concerned there would be no luggage storage under seat in front of him. There was, and he was sorry he gave up extra leg room of exit row. He sat in single seat but reported no problems with shoulder room - but he is not especially tall or wide. He said any lack of comfort on this equipment was far made up for by not having to change planes in Charlotte. (USAirways not has 2 non-stops/day Boston-Savannah)
