I normally book directly through Delta's website. However, I have found a cheaper fare through Orbitz and Expedia. The problem is that the cheaper flight is a mulitple carrier flight ( a short flight with A/A, then Delta.)

I would love to get skymiles for my Delta flight since it is a pretty long flight.

Is this possible when booking through these travel sites, even on a multiple carrier flight?

DL and AA have no alliance. As far as I know, you could not receive DL SkyMiles for the AA segment.

If you were flying on an all SkyTeam itinerary (i.e. DL, NW, CO), this would be a possibility...of course depending on the purchased fare class.

Assuming that the DL fare code sold to you by Orbitz/Expedia is a mileage earning fare....
