Delta from Venice to JFK/ change to Jet Blue

Anyone know what terminal Delta comes into from Venice?
Do we go thru customs there and anyone have exp. with that?
Then we need to get to Jet Blue terminal 5 after we pick up our checked in luggage on Delta.
How do we get to term 5 with all our luggage, etc to fly Jet blue? We have close to 5 hours layover.
Thanks...Dreamer

DL international comes into T3.

If you can get DL to tag your bags interline to Jetblue in Venice, you can just drop off your bags after customs. If not, then you carry them with you to T5. You'll be taking the free interterminal AirTrain.

Yes - you have to pick up your bags and go through customs. If Jet Blue doesn't interline (don't know - never flew on them) you'll then transport your luggage over to T5.

You will have to pick luggage up upon arrival on Delta and go through customs definitely! Always first landing on U.S. soil, no matter what your end destination is.

There are inter airline agreements to transfer luggage from one to another. But, not all airlines participate in this. It will depend also on how they tag your luggage in Venice, to JFK or you end destination. If you have 2 separate tickets that could be difficult as Delta in Venice will be unaware of the Jet Blue ticket. It is good that you were able to have ample connecting time.

Separate tickets isn't so much the issue as if they interline, you can just show them your onward ticket. I just don't know if they interline.

Since you have plenty of time there's no need to fret over interlining.

As stated above you will need to pick up your bags at Delta baggage claim and carry them through customs regardless.

Getting from T3 to T5 on the AirTrain is easy. With 5hrs you can just bring your bags over to T5 and deposit them with JetBlue. QED.
