Dallas Love Field to DFW Q's

I am flying into Love Field. I have another flight at DFW. Reverse will be done on return trip.

How much time should I allow between arrival [getting bags] and my second flight [clearing security etc] to get from one airport to the other? Will 4 hours do it?

What type of public transportation is available to do this -- shuttle, bus ???

This will be March of 2009.

Thanks,

Deb

Depending on traffic it's about a 20 to 25 minute drive between Love Field and DFW. I'm pretty sure there's no shuttle service or viable public transportation between those airports. Your best bet is to take a cab.

Claiming bags and or clearing TSA Security at either airport is about the same as at any other airport - perhaps a wait of between 20 and 40 minutes for bags to be off-loaded and 10 to 30 minutes to get through security - all depends on time of day and number of people traveling and number flights schedulked around the same time as yours. Allow some addition time to check-in and get your boarding passes if you haven't already done it on-line.

Upshot is a 4 hour layover between flights should be fine.

For anyone else looking, I found this:

Yellow Checker Shuttle

www.yellowcheckershuttle.com/

$19 between Love Field and DFW.

Wow, that's a pain-in-the-ass. But 4 hours should allow you sufficient time to get from DAL to DFW, even should you be doing this during rush hour traffic.

Yeah it is, but it allowed me to save $220. I have a Southwest Award Ticket which will get me to Love Field and then I bought a RT ticket from DFW to STT. I figured it was worth the inconvenience to save $220.
