CDG - need to go from 2E to 2G immediately on arrival?
Hi all. I’m flying Business class on Air France from LAX to Basel, with a 2.5 hour layover at Charles de Gaulle. I arrive at 2E and depart from 2G. I’d much prefer to spend some time in the larger lounge in 2E.
My question is, after clearing Immigration/ security at 2E, do I need to immediately exit? Or can I use that lounge and catch a navette to 2G after an hour or so. Also, how much time should I allow for the transfer?
As a side note - I got back from a trip yesterday and made the reverse transfer: 2G to 2 E, in about 30 minutes. Off the plane, through security in a flash, on the bus to 2 G (waited maybe 10 minutes for more passengers), maybe 10 minute drive to 2E, escalator to upper floor and made my connection Was happily surprised at how efficient it was!
Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks, P_M for your reply. I totally agree, transferring at CDG can be difficult (and stressful) so I am always careful to allow plenty of time.
My question is more to do with the mechanics and pathways of transferring from 2E to 2G. I’ve done 2E to 2F many times - walking and using the train - but never to 2G. Where do you make the “turnoff”, for lack of a better word? Planes from LAX usually land at K, L or M gates of Terminal 2E, and then I make my way after Security to 2F for continental connections. Question is, can I stay in 2E for a half hour and THEN go to 2G, or is the navette almost as soon as you get off the plane. I hope I’m explaining it clearly...
Thanks again! Anyone else with info, please advise!

Ok, I looked at another website and think I discovered the answer - here’s the explanation, if someone else needs it.
“If you're arriving at 2E (K, L, or M gates) from LAX and connecting to Basel (BSL) via 2F, you will have to go through immigration upon arrival, because you re entering the Schengen Area at CDG. Once you go through passport control and move toward 2F for your connecting flight, you won't be able to go back to the 2E gates or lounges, because they are in the non-Schengen zone.
So unfortunately, you cannot use the 2E Business lounges before heading to 2F
- once you go through immigration and into the Schengen side (where 2F is), you're committed.”

Iwan this is great info to have for next transfer through CDG, which we often do when we travel to Europe.
We come from SFO and actually used the AF Concierge service last month to be sure of the transfers--my husband has acquired a mobility issue and we wanted no trouble getting where we needed to next and in a timely manner. Some prior connections have been crazy but as it happens this one was about the easiest ever.
