Cancellation of flight-compensation?

I'm not sure if I am due compensation, so thought I would ask here. My flight from Nice to Amsterdam was cancelled with no explanation-not weather related. I was booked on through to Atlanta with Delta. I was given vouchers for hotel and meals.. My total delayed time was 21 hours. All my flights were booked with Delta. Is it possible to get an airfare voucher from Delta? If so, how do I go about getting it? I was re-booked the next day.

Have had similar experience in past insuremytrip.co wise

your contract of carriage allows them to do this

sadly probably no compensation will be paid.

But the squeaky wheel gets the grease call Delta

see waht u can get if nothing

threaten to do a merchant reversal on your card

or if you had a hotel reservation that cost and

can document significant loss you can threaten to

sur in small claims cout... worked recently for Ralph

Nader with US Air nd his flight was cancelled due to

weather... he had to rent a car they gave him 100%

of his money back... so it never hurts to give it a TRY.

Doubtful but it's worth a try. Also doubtful you would win if you contest the charge with your credit card company. The airline contracted to get you to your destination. Which they did. I've been delayed in reaching my destination as much as 3 days in the past for various reasons. Ralph Nader may have gotten something from the airlines but I never did. My travel insurance did pay out for missed nights in hotels, extra expenses, etc, however.

Thanks qwavadis and julia. I think I will go to the Delta site and send a complaint. I probably won't get anything, but it's worth a try. I was advised on the Europe forum that I am due to get compensation because the EU has laws regulating any flight from the EU. Might be worth a try.

What carrier was supposed to fly you from Nice to Amsterdam since Delta doesn't fly that-was it Air France or KLM?

KLM... That is the flight that cancelled. And therefore missing the connecting KLM flight to ATL.
