I know this is an old thread; but, I'm wondering about any experiences on this (now-flying) aircraft. DS was supposed to fly LAX-NRT today, but that 787 is grounded... He was switched from UA to DL for his trip LAX-BKK. I was really hoping for a report on the 787, as I am flying it next month to BKK (also from LAX).

Any experiences you fodorite flyers would care to share about the 787, in either the front or the back of the plane??

Hi Carol, Here is a more recent thread about the plane, including comments from a flier.

That's curious. I fly out of LAX on UA about every 2 weeks for work and always see that LAX-NRT flight departing (with quite a bit of jealousy, I might add.)

I don't think the plane is grounded. Perhaps there was a tech issue that day that caused a cancellation? ...but UA's 787 is flying on a quite regular basis from LAX to NRT.

filmwill, this is quite an old thread. The initial comments was on how late the delivery of the 787 was - years late. Then the 787 was grounded for a time early this year because of problems with the lithium batteries. It has been back flying consistently for months now.

Kathie, I was actually referring to Carol's post from last week about UA's 787 being grounded at LAX just recently.

That 787 did not fly the LAX to NRT route on the 4th Sept. DS was put on Delta instead. Film will, I am delighted to read your input about seeing this plane taking off! Thanks for the "comforting" words. Now I think I can look forward to that flight!
Carol
