Avoiding LHR's Flight Connections Centre?
In regards to making connections at Heathrow...
Over at Flyer Talk, there are a few old posts in which people have discussed avoiding the Connections Centre. Apparently, upon landing at LHR, they follow signs for Customs/Immigration and walk to their connecting terminal, rather than following signs for the Flight Connections Centre and connecting that way. They claim it's faster to just avoid the Centre.
Anyone ever heard of this? Is this for business and first class passengers, or can coach passengers do it, too?
If you're wondering why I'm not posting in Flyer Talk, it's because I've found that I get better and faster responses here.
I'll be flying BA into T1 from SFO with a four hour layover, then, on the same ticket, connecting to my BA flight to Casablanca which departs from T1. I'm not checking any baggage. I'm sure I'll have enough time, but I'm curious if the Flyer Talk scenario is a possibility.

You're doing a "sterile transit" at LHR - no need to go anywhere, since both the arriving and departing flights are from T1. You'll need to go through security to get to the T1 departures area; go to the BA flight connections desk for your boarding pass for the onward flight if it wasn't given to you at SFO. No need to go to the FCC for the bus, nor customs and immigration. You should be able to hit the T1 duty frees in 10-20 min, depending on the lines through the security checkpoint.

Thanks for that, Gardyloo! So no customs/immigration at Heathrow? I do that at Casablanca, then. For some reason, I had it in my mind that I had to clear customs/immigration at my first port of entry, LHR.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
