My question isn`t about flying weekends, it`s about purchasing a ticket on weekends, regardless of the day of the week you fly. Ticket prices usually seem to come down by Monday night.

I haven't notice that pattern for ticket prices, but here is a guess:
The airlines make decisions on releasing additional low priced seats on the week days (when the executives are working). Over the weekend, those tickets are bought up and only a few new ones (mainly ones that were on hold, but weren't purchased) are released.
lynnejoel1015, I don't know if this pattern holds true for travel, but for auto sales, almost all of the telephone calls and email inquires come during regular business hours. I assume that most people are making those inquiries from where they work.
