airfares
Why are tickets generally more on weekends? What`s so special about weekends?
|
Simple, it's a matter of suppy and demand. Lots of casual travellers want to fly on weekends - ergo the airlines charge more because they can.
|
My question isn`t about flying weekends, it`s about purchasing a ticket on weekends, regardless of the day of the week you fly. Ticket prices usually seem to come down by Monday night.

because everyone has the leisure time on weekends to search for airfare and plan their vacations?
just speculating. |
I haven't notice that pattern for ticket prices, but here is a guess:
The airlines make decisions on releasing additional low priced seats on the week days (when the executives are working). Over the weekend, those tickets are bought up and only a few new ones (mainly ones that were on hold, but weren't purchased) are released. lynnejoel1015, I don't know if this pattern holds true for travel, but for auto sales, almost all of the telephone calls and email inquires come during regular business hours. I assume that most people are making those inquiries from where they work. Keith |
