Alaska Airlines Safe?

I booked a flight to Reno on AA but after I booked the flight and reviewed the reservation, I see they have a codeshare with Alaska Air therefore I'll be flying on Alaska Air, not AA, though my FF miles will go to AA.
I've never flown on Alaska Air so I'm curious as to the 411 on this airline....reviews anyone? Thanks!

They had a fatal crash in 2000, but that problem with the MD-80 aircraft has been cleared up. I can't see any reason to be more concerned about Alaska as opposed to any other US airline. My experience on several Alaska flights has been positive.

The 2000 crash was primarily maintenance-related (note that no other MD80 has crashed due to the same problem, and I've seen no similar incidences since-- and I flew an MD80 last night), but it was a tragic accident, not a symptom of a wider problem at Alaska Air. They are fine, and their aircraft are meticulously maintained. You'll be just fine.

I love Alaska Air! Great airline with nice attendants and good snacks (for an airline).

All the things said here about AlaskaAir are true. In addition, I would add that, because of the intense scrutiny given to the carrier's maintenance procedures after the 2000 crash, and the subsequent litigation that arose as a result of the crash, it's probably surveilled more closely by the FAA than just about any other U.S. carrier!
