Admiral's Club food for purchase
On my upcoming trip to Peru I will have the rare privelege of flying biz class. My routing will be AUS/DFW/MIA/LIM on the outbound and LIM/LAX/AUS on the return. I plan to hang out in the lounges between flights so I've been looking at AA's web page for lounge info.
From what I can gather, the lounges here in the US are not quite as nice as the one I vistied at LGW. I remember an open bar and all sorts of free snacks at LGW, but evidently that isn't the case on this side of the pond. AA's web page shows an icon which says "Food for Purchase." So what kind of food is it? Is it any better than what I can get from a restaurant at the terminal? And what about bar drinks--no freebies there either?
Thanks for this and any other info you think I need about the lounges at DFW, LAX and MIA.

Unless it's changed recently the free snack seems to be pretzel/snack mix when I'm there which is afternoon. In Miami last trip I noticed there were some sandwich selections but I didn't order any. You're not allowed to bring food in from the airport concessions.

The "Food For Purchase" is usually a variety of sandwhichs and salads. The selection varies from Admiral's Club to Admiral's Club. It's about the same quality as you'd get if you purchased similar items at the restaurants in the terminals.

Hi P_M
I could be wrong, but I think you're entitled to drink "chits" at the ACs. [I'm PLT and I can get into ACs when I fly int'l.]
Each "chit" gives you a free drink at the bar - anything you want, could be wine, cocktail, soda, or bottled water (which is what I usu ask for).
The check-in person at the AC doesn't always give me a chit (I'm entitled to 2) so I'll have to ask sometimes. Sometimes they give me 2 (that's what it's supposed to be) but sometimes I only get one. From what I've read, you can go back to the desk and ask for more.
The free snacks at the ACs are very limited. Usually just cookies and pretzels. They also have coffee and water.
The "food for purchase" are sandwiches and wraps etc. I believe they're around $7-8 but I've never had any so I'm not positive about the price.

I have purchased food in Miami and DFW and JFK. The food in the JFK tasted better - not sure why - it seemed to all be the same type of selection. Some of the clubs we have been into do permit food from outside to be brought in. I know we did... I just cannot recall what ones...it is all a blurr.
The food is not very tasty but it will do if you are very hungry.
No, I do not think it is any better then what you can get outside. I think it might be worse.
I recall us getting a few free drinks with our business class tickets when we were returning from Rome via JFK to LAX.

P_M - dawnnoelm made a good point. There are several ACs in DFW. I have only been to the one in Terminal D - the Int'l terminal. It is also the newest and largest. I think the folks over at flyertalk like the D one, and also the A one is not bad either. If you have plenty of time for your connection, you can always take the Terminal Link to get from one terminal to another. the Terminal Link is Airside and runs efficiently and frequently.

Hi again all. I was planning to check out Terminal D's club since it's so new, I'm thinking it will be nicer. But I have 3 hours at DFW so maybe I'll hop around to a few Admiral's Clubs.
Would that be considered club hopping??
