55 min connection time in Munich
We are flying (Lufthansa) from Chicago to Naples in June with a connecting flight (Air Dolomiti) in Munich. We arrive in Munich at 8:15 AM and depart for Naples at 9:10 AM. Do we need to go through immigration and customs in Munich? We've been through Munich on a flight home from Italy and all I remember is running to catch our flight--
We are meeting family and friends (all from the US) in Naples and I would like to arrange transportation, such as a mini-bus, to Sorrento for everyone. DD is getting married--so I'll be nervous enough without missing a flight connection and messing up ground transportation for everyone else. Thanks in advance for advice.

Flying TO the USA is always much more time-consuming than coming FROM the USA because of the US government's strict safety regulations. Immigration and customs in Munich will be very quick - no comparison to immigration in the USA.
Lufthansa will do everything that you can catch your flight. If you are in a hurry, got to an airline representative. If necessary, they will you escort to your connecting flight. BTW, most incoming transatlantic flights are early (because of the tailwinds).
The worst what can happen is that you have to take the next flight to Naples which leaves at 10:55 AM. If you want to go onto the safe side, change your ticket to the 10:55 flight.

While it's close, I think you should be able to make it. As you know, MUN is a modern, efficient airport. You'll have to go through immigration/passport control twice (at least in our experience). Not terribly time consuming. We were an hour late one time so our connection time was down to 20 min. A LH rep met our flight and escorted us to next flight. Not only did we make it, our bags did too. As traveller says, there are other flights if you miss the 9:10. We have always found LH very accommodating on this issue.
