Robin Pope Safaris - Wild Dogs -It's Monday Update
Quite a fascinating weekly update on the It's Monday update on Robin Pope Safaris website.

Fortunately, a couple wild dogs were collared with GPS collars, and this will allow for greater research and protection of the wild dogs.
Also interesting is the warthog who continues to approach humans on walking safaris and on game drives. I had the pleasure of meeting this warthog, Robert, last year while he was still residing at the Chipembele Wildlife Trust. Although he has left Chipembele, he obviously still is quite fond of humans. Hopefully this doesn't get him in trouble one day!

Almost forgot to mention the wild dog / elephant standoff and ensuing chase!
Hopefully these wild dogs stick around for a few more weeks for you Fodorites who will be in South Luangwa later this month!

Rocco: thanks for posting this. Kellie is one of the researchers I had lined up for the Wild Dog specialty trip that I tried to lead. I worked with her trying to help raise some funds for this collaring project -- I was unsuccessful but I'm very glad she found funding.

Bill,
Thanks for the link to Kellie's full report. Amazing that she was unable to find the dogs by helicopter or vehicle for all that time and then they just appeared two hours before her departure. Almost seems like they did not want to miss the opportunity to be collared!

Interesting...the Subscribe form for the Monday update on the RPS site doesn't list Israel in it's country list - and doesn't accept the form w/o a country name.
Just want to add a thank you to Predator Biologist for the full report on the wild dog collaring. Have become fascinated by them since starting to use this site.
