Photos for ...It's hard NOT to love Africa...
Link for some of the photos taken during the safari. I'm just a happy snapper but I like 'em. There's 100's more I haven't even uploaded yet.

Some really nice photos you can continue to be a happy snapper. On the antlope species that you were not sure of they are waterbuck, they have a lovely ring around thier bum and a lovely aroma that comes with them.
I love the hippo shots they are so cute!! I am amazed you saw that chameleon we used to have friends with one they are lovely!
Oh my word how cute are the cheetah cup how old were they, they could not have been more than 4 months with all that white fluff, hell but they are cute hey!
And yes it is a grey crowned crane, graceful hey!!
Some really nice pictures!!!!

Mazj,
very nice pics and you were very lucky with all that cats!! Leopard, Serval cat and so many cheetahs, looks like you had a great time!
I always call the little parrots lovebirds (its not the right name, but they are cute)
Thanks for sharing.

Great shots, Mazj!!!
I agree with Patty that those are Fischer's lovebirds...but I'm no birder. ;-)
Love the "screensaver" and the lion shaking off the the rain.
Some excellent cat sightings. WTG!!!

Thanks for the wonderfully entertaining photos, mazj!
I share very much your fondness for the wildebeest. Amazing creatures the way they constantly go about their business with determination and purpose -- no preening and posing for these noble beasts.
I loved your photo of the rain. I can't imagine how special it must have looked, sounded, and smelled.

Thank you to everyone for such encouraging comments. Where I don't have a name it's because I didn't write it down immediately at the time!
Thank you for helping out.
Here's some more, including some 'other than animals' shots for those who like details - like I did.

Thanks for posting the extra 'other than animals' shots. They are really interesting. The houses, people on the streets, red bananas??
If others out there have similar photos I'd love to see more. As much as I love the animals I am curious and would like to learn more about the people and their way of life as well.
Mind you I think my favourite photo was of the fluff balls!!

Oh I agree - it's hard not to love "Africa". But it seems from your post that Africa = animals.
First thoughts - when people talk about "Africa" on this forum what they really mean is the parts of Africa they go to. 52 nations out of which maybe only 4-5 register on your radar.
And you go to see the "animals".
Did you find anything else of interest, mazj?

afterall,
Not sure if you've read my trip reports (Egypt and Tanzania) or just responding to the photos, which were as a response to requests from people who read the report.
Out of interest though, we find it hard to explain why we feel that Tanzania is a place we would like to return to rather than China, Turkey, Vietnam, Cambodia or numerous European places we've visited. Something just got under our skin. I admit our experiences with Africa are limited, but you have to start somewhere. Animals are wonderful and if coming to view them via a safari leads to other lasting memories of people and places, then we are well satisfied.
