Overnight in Nairobi, where to stay

I am going on a quick trip to the Mara. Will be arriving by the evening KLM flight (725pm).

What is a good /safe place, not too expensive, close to the airport where I could rest for the night before picking up my travel partner the next morning from the NBO airport ?

Is this a half-board case?

Thanks in advance,
TP

Right outside the airport are the Panari or Ole Sereni Hotels, both rather expensive for sleep and breakfast next morning. These booked on a B&B basis, though both have restaurants if you wish to grab a bite for dinner, payable direct.

What time do you have to pick-up your travel partner? For one of the 6-7am arrivals? If so, you can actually go into town for overnight, staying at the Fairview whose prices are more competitive. As you'll have to leave yourself at least 1/hr to get to airport next morning and even though NBO traffic can be a horror, maybe not too bad at 5am.

There are some even lower cost options, believe a Comfort Inn and a "Red...something", but can't advise from personal experience on cleanliness and prices. I know that Micato uses the Holiday Inn, but can't comment on this either.

Sandi,

You might mean Redcourt Hotel. I read that it's somewhat close to the airport (12 km), clean, and not as expensive as the panari and ole sereni (which are much closer to the airport).

Haven't been there, seen pictures, or gotten a price quote...so it's just what I've read on the travel sites.

DPE - Yup, that's it... Redcourt. But 8/miles is already almost in Nairobi Center. Panari and Ole Sereni are only 10/min from the airport.

TP - if working with an outfitter for the Tanzania segment, inquire of them; should have contact/s in NBO for hotel options.

Yep, partners coming in at 730am...so it should be ok, I suppose (in terms of traffic).
