At the recommendation of several people in this forum, we booked our upcoming Cape Town tours with Wayne and Take2Tours (http://www.take2tours.co.za/).
As part of our honeymoon, we're doing a Cape Point tour, winelands tour, hiking up Table Mountain with a guide, visiting the gardens, and doing a Baboon Walk. They are also handling all of our airport transfers and hotel reservations, so it made life easier with only one person to work with for everything in Cape Town. We checked around some, and prices seemed very fair.
I'll let you know how it goes when we get back next month.

We spent 2 full days with Mark Murison (plus RT to airport) and really enjoyed our time with him. One full days in Winelands and another a full touring day to Cape Point etc. He is a wonderful person and we would recommend him highly. I don't have an email address but his cell phone # is 0824555157. Regards from Ivy and John.We booked him through Southern Destinations, which handled every aspect of our Cape Tour leg + some parts of our safari.

I would highly recommend Tim with Friends of Dorothy's Tours out of Cape Town. Tim is a former lawyer, from England and worked in Hong Kong, etc. He is an authorized South African tour guide and is very much in demand. Tim is very informative, very workable and flexible with your needs and above all -you would love for him to be a guest at your next dinner party. He has been around for quite awhile but started taking my particular airline and its crews around when we started flying Cape Town last year.
By word of mouth he has become a fav-AND has also become one of the premier guides for the new Atlantis hotel that was just built in Cape Town.
Some people may be put off by the website that suggests that the tours are only for gays-they are not. He is listed in Frommers and other travel guides.(His touring with my airline was probably 97% straight clientale.)
His company has 5 regular tours and then others that you can self design with him. I cannot begin to tell you how his love of South Africa and the Western Cape come through with his tours. He is so interesting and well-versed on everything from history to current events that you will hate to leave his tour van at the end of the day.
He picks you up at your hotel and spends over 8 hours with you paying for everything except your lunch and souvenirs. All admission prices are included, etc.
Check him out-he was so popular with my airline that on the day we got our schedule for the next month of flying the first thing people did when they got the Cape Town layover was to call or email him so they could get on his tours.
