BA or Etihad for flight to London
Hello all,
I am planning a trip to London in late Sept. I am trying to choose between Etihad and BA for my flight from Abu Dhabi to London return. I don't care at all about food. Comfort of seat and entertainment is important though. I will be flying economy.
Thanks

I would chose Etihad personally. I pick Etihad to fly back to the States every time (won't even consider another airline out of Abu Dhabi), and have flown with them a few times, and never had a problem.

Agree with Peg... www.ba.com not as good usually...
MASSIVE fuel surcharges and big charges for seats also
a real downer for FF miles flyers like me...
Had to give them 600000 FF miles plus $500 to fly US to ROM
in May just ok would have cost me 80% less on other carriers.

The only problem with Etihad in my opinion is the baggage allowance which is 20 Kg and every kilo after that is for 35$ which is ridiculous. I agree that Etihad is probably better also since their planes are newer. What is a Shopoholic like to do then??

Also, Etihad has individual screens on each seat where you can pick from different movies and tv shows for free. They have some decent choices, also on each individual seat is an international plug so you can plug your laptop, mp3 player, ipod, etc. You also get a choice of food, usually three different ones, and you can get a glass of wine or beer for free with dinner. And I've always had outstanding service on my flights.
The baggage allowance is 23k/50 lbs to Europe.

HariS: I feel Emirates is a fantastic airline. The only problem is that it's in Dubai. If you live in downtown Abu Dhabi, that means a 2 hour (and sometimes more) trip just to get there. Getting a driver from AD or the option of driving there and leaving the car at the airport are both very expensive. The return flights generally come in late at night and that means that you're either driving back to AD in the middle of the night or you have to get a hotel room in Dubai to return the next morning. For me it's just too much hassle.
I've taken both Etihad and BA and have had good service on both. I think Etihad tends to be more expensive than BA and frankly, I go with the schedule and rates that are more favorable for what I need. Also use KLM, Air France and Lufthansa and no huge complaints with any of them as well.

In this case, they are both the same price. BA also has entertainment option, not as good as Etihad's and last time I flew from Cairo it did not work in my seat.
Both schedules are OK, Etihad has 3 flights daily but BA only one. Another plus for BA is that it flies from Terminal 5 in Heathrow which is awesome.
