Hello guys - I just received an e-mail from my guide at Chamilandu. They had wild dogs - a pack of 14, with pups, at the Kapamba River. this is in the southern part of the park for the uninitiated. She is just getting caught up with all her e-mails but I will respond to see if she will tell me more. It may take a while, but I'll see what I can find out! Woohoo!!!

Yes, Hari - it's the Bushcamp company. The season has just ended, and she has more than 100 e-mails to sort through, but I will get back to her. I wonder if any of them are the ones that were collared...

That's great news. A couple of years ago the dogs used to be seen quite a bit around Chamilandu and Bilimungwe -- both Bushcamp properties.

I returned from BCC just a few days ago, had the good fortune of being guided by "your guide" at Chamilandu: What an exquisite camp.

There were in fact three or four different dog sightings over the week that I was there. A pack of 11, another of 14 and a larger of 22. I don't know if these were fragments of the same group or three entirely unrelated paccks. But I can certainly vouch for the sightings.

At Kapamba, which is open until December 31, the pack of 14 nailed a puke in front of the camp.

While I was at Bilimungwe I had amongst other experiences leopard mating. This was in the middle of the night and sounded as if it was just beyond my chalet.

Plenty of other good sightings, which included a group of three leopard hunting on the "dumbo" in front of Chindeni....

What a trip. BCC ROCKS!

mkhonzo - Wow - sounds like you had a fabulous trip, too. The dogs were nowhere to be found in early June. Did you stay exclusively with BCC? Chami is a fabulous camp, as is "my" guide. ;-)

That is good news and sounds so encouraging. Hope they flourish. Hope someone's there to post some dog envy pictures for us.

BTW. She is a fabulous guide, wonderfil demenour and really deeply knowledgable: it was a privelege to be guided by her.

Notes on posting on MOZ describe the trip, but yes only BCC & Mfuwe. I stayed at Ntwala at the end to take in some birds, cool off after the heat of the valley and stalk some tiger fish.
