What's your favorite African Sundowner?

The best one I had was at Gibb's Farm -- they called it a Tangawizi Twist. I have no idea if it is a standard drink or if they made it up. It had some kind of liquor, fresh lime juice, something sweet, and lots and lots of freshly grated ginger. Wow!

I guess I move between a glass of Amarula if it is cool outside, to having a cold local beer if it is warm. I love Windhoek beer if down south, Tusker in E. Africa when at altitude (only 4.2% alcohol) and a Safari Lager in Tanzania when I need a kick in the rear!

My favorite was not so much a "what" as a "where".... Sitting under a jackalberry tree watching (and listening to) a leopard feasting on impala while hyena paced below and we sipped wine and enjoyed our hors d'oeuvres. Couldn't tear ourselves away to find a more traditional spot. One of our most enchanting and surreal memories of Botswana.

I use to drink a Zimbabwean drink called "Soapy" because it looked like soapy water.I think it had lemon barley and a drink similar to Sprite but I can't remember. Tasted very cool and refreshing. Would love to know the recipe if anyone out there can help.
