Nothing new, only the name has changed - formerly it was known as Abu Private Villa (or Abu Elephant Villa).

Interesting that WS don't list the owner for all EBS properties on their website.

Nyama,

I'm not too familiar with the EBS properties. Won't be making any bookings anytime soon ...... so, may never know!!!

but, "no elephant interaction" as their site description (last sentence). What a shame.

Though if my elephant safari in Thailand is any indication, it's not all that comfy up top... not for more than an hour. And from friends who have been at Abu camp, game viewing is actually better from a safari vehicle.

The most recent WS newsletter says: "... [elephant activities] are not offered daily at the Villa Okavango."

Nyama,

I'm guessing ..... it's more for the experience of the luxury/exclusivity/privacy etc etc., terms getting more and more common in the media blitz!

And just how much does this private villa cost? Do they have the nerve to charge on a pppn basis, assuming 4 persons? And if you pay whatever the outrageous price must be, are you more likely to spend more time in your villa instead of the gameviewing that you went there for?

Who says that you can't view game when sitting on the verandah/deck of your tent? Get a drink, take your binos, and watch and hear what African wildlife has to offer. It's one of the most relaxing and enjoyable 'activities'.

Do these Bots locations generally allow walking safaris in the bush accompanied by qualified guides, where one can experience close encounters with big five animals?

Generally allowed and offered in all concessions, but I guess the only serious offers are by Linyanti Explorations (Selinda Walking Trails) and Ker & Downey (Footsteps across the Delta).

Mohammed,

I think Selinda walking trails are about the best recognized ones in Botswana ...... The terrain around their Mokoba trails camp is stunning!!!

Nyama,
I don't mind sitting on the verandah with a good book and camera within arms reach during siesta hour, but, not as a substitute for the drive!

Hari - sometimes a break from 'daily routine' can be quite enjoyable...
