Victoria Falls Hotel, Ilala Lodge or the David and Livingstone
I am in my final preparations for next month trip. I plan to be at Victoria Falls for 2 or 3 days. If anyone is familiar with these three facilities which one would you recommend?

I stayed at Ilala Lodge last October. It was quite nice, the room was comfortable, but not 'luxury' accommodation, the people there were very friendly and helpful. It was about 5 minutes walk to the entrance to the Falls.
I had lunch one afternoon at Victoria Falls Hotel, and dinner one evening there also. It's a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. I spoke with some people who were there on a coach tour, however, and they said their rooms were cramped and a little shabby for the money they paid. One advantage with VFH is that there is direct access into the VF park area from the hotel grounds, which limits your exposure to touts.
Here are some photos. If you scroll down the page about two-thirds, you will find images from Ilala Lodge. Victoria Falls Hotel is a little further down. http://jmstudio.fotopic.net/c1494319.html

I have stayed at Ilalla twice in the past three years- it definitely has my vote!! D&L is more run down- but still quite elegant, Illala is more comfortable- less stuffy!
Have a great time!!! I have a friend named Tich in the center of the strip mall- an artist, stop to say hi if you get a chance- nice guy!

2x at Ilala
1x at Vic Falls
no nothing of David
I liked Ilala and it was almost as close to the falls as Vic Falls Hotel.
If mobility is an issue--Vic Falls. If you want a classic colonial hotel--Vic Falls.
Otherwise, I'd go with Ilala.

We stayed at the Ilala Lodge and LOVED it. We could hear the falls at night and see the mist from them as we ate breakfast. The staff was incredible and the service could not be beat. Plus it was great to be able to walk to the falls. I would recommend at least 2 full days there. We had one full day and and afternoon and it felt rushed. I would have liked time to stroll through the market next to the hotel, but we just didn't have a moment.
