I am hoping OAT will cancel this trip. I can change trip to another in 2023 and receive a $500 goodwill certificate, change trip for 2024 and receive a $250 goodwill certificate. The change in itinerary loses one day so they are reimbursing $700 for that day in addition to $750 by keeping trip. I really want to see Petra as I have already been to Egypt and they are replacing Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with Cyprus and Amman Jordan which look very interesting. I have until Nov 2 to make a decision so OAT and I have time to decide the course to take based on events and government warnings.

I've been to Amman, wouldn't say it was "very interesting" but suspect Cyprus would be. Petra is definitely a must-see, deserving at least three nights.

For Amman see: https://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com...heres-my-tour/

For Petra see: https://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com...eerless-petra/

Postpone your trips and travel to Egypt and Jordan when the situation is not so volatile.
We were in Jordan at the beginning the COVID epidemic in 2020 and want to return there. We traveled around the country then and will return when that is possible again.

Sadly, I haven't traveled since 2018. The site hosting my old website has finally gone out of business and I've been thinking about moving those TRs to the blog, but they really old - 2001-2006. Thanks for asking!

Well, you certainly did your share of traveling. Sorry you don't travel anymore but your reports are so descriptive it is easy for you to relive them and enjoy the memories.

i would advise all travel to middle east be postponed till this is resolved , better to be safe than killed, kidnapped, tortured.
in my opinion that area will never be the same again (i know it was risky before but now its a different ballgame)

I think that's a good decision.
