Hi DMBT

If you click on my screen name you will find my trip report (our KNP experience was part of 5 weeks in Southern Africa). If i remember correctly that has links to our accommodation.
Briefly, we stayed at:

Upon arrival we overnighted in Johannesburg at the Courtyard Hotel Eastgate (close to the airport).
We flew JHB to Hoedspruit where we hired a car. In KNP we stayed at Satara and Letaba - the only places we could get in to as it was peak season. We have stayed at Oliphants before (and several others) - Oliphants is one of our favourite stops. (My trip report will give a good overview of the game we were fortunate to see)
We then drove to Gomo Gomo and flew back to JHB from Nelspruit.
When we went to Cape Town we chose to stay outside Stellenbosch at the very beautiful Soverby Guest Cottages.

In Johannesburg we enjoyed staying at Cape Elegance B&B in Bryanston.

Wishing you a great trip.

So you are looking forward to your SA trip? Long flight to J'burg for sure but actually giving you time to actually sleep. You likely have plans made. A couple of years ago we were with family for 3 weeks. Did stay in guesthouse in Melrose to tour J'burg and Soweto and also guesthouse over at Kruger (Abangane). So we did book a guided tour and also drove in ourselves next day. In addition up north, toured Blyde R. Canyon, Pilgrim's Rest, Maropeng Museum/Sterkfontein Cave, plus Shangaan tribal show.

Then several weeks in Cape Town, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay areas.

Lots to do. Enjoy!

Hi there. This may come as an anti-climax but.... don't forget DEET and anti-malaria prophylactics.

Elisabeth54,

Got 'em but finding others and now my own approach to malaria here interesting.

Packed long pants, long shirts, long socks, a mosquito net for my hat but.... Shorts, T-Shirts and Flip-flops seem to be the order of the day as temperature here in Zambia have been in the 80-90 deg range!

I have somewhat joined the crowd but taking Malarone and using lots of DEET
