Tanzania in June or Kenya in September??

Hi there,
I am about to book a trip to Tanzania for mid-June (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara, Tarangire)with the understanding that I should see the migration down there. Is this my best bet for a trip of a lifetime, or does anyone recommend going later or going to Kenya instead. I keep hearing about Mara. It's all very overwhelming (and exciting)! It's an expensive trip (for me) so I want to make sure I'm planning the best one! Thanks a bunch in advance. Greta

I would pick Mara in September......with June, the migration could be anywhere.....especially this year with all the unpredictable weather.

Hi Greta, I think mara is almost impossible to beat in september. I would prefer september for your trip overall because it would be the dry seasons and u would be able to spot many predators. You can skip serengeti in sept and do ngorogoro and tarangire with Mara. I was once in manyara around october and did not enjoy it a lot.It has to do with the migration of the animals,
Keep us posted what u do..
Sonali.

Thanks Sonali! It sounds like Mara is the better choice, based on the rave reviews it gets on this forum. But that said, I may still opt for Serengeti in June b/c I'm not sure I can wait until September! I wish I could leave tomorrow! But it sounds like I'll be okay in central Serengeti at that time?

Well greta, if u go in june try to stay in the central regions of serengeti, that would optimise your game viewing, I have been to the western corrridor(kirawira serena) in june, the property is lovely but the game viewing was ok.A group of my friends also visited after me also in june (same year) and they did have a good time and saw lots of wildlife around the naabi, sopa, central regions, Sonali.
