Sonali,
On our visit we saw and photographed families of lions...coalitions of lions...lions sleeping...lions meandering just outside our camp...lions eating...lions hunting...lions mating...we almost saw lions killing, but this particular day the zebra won...(ran away). I hate to say it, but we became complacent photographing them because there were so many. I will post some lion pictures today.

Happy birthday, a bit late Sonali. Did you know you share a birthdate with Groundhog's Day?
I've always thought that hyraxes look like groundhogs.
Do you pay any attention to the myth about the groundhog seeing his shadow in India? Not sure if that local tradition has gained international attention. I'm thinking after the Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day, it might have generated some interest.
Everybody is divulging their birthday lately!
So when is CHEETAH DAY?
Hari, you should know that one, if anybody does!

Happy birthday (one day late), Sonali. How nice of davgai1 to share his incredible photos just in time!
The photos--especially cheetahs--are all great, davgai1. Did you get to meet Wilbert and his family at all?

davgai1 - thanks for sharing such great pics! I am taking a May safari in Tanzania and these are inspiring. You got some great close ups and was curious if you were really close or had a strong zoom lens? I am thinking about getting a new camera b4 the trip and debating how strong a zoom lens I'll need. Thanks.

These were taken around Ndutu last week.
David, did you spot the amazing cheetah mom on the Serengeti side or NCA side of the border at Ndutu?
We'll be there in a few weeks and seeing your photos is very inticing. Except for the spitting cobra at Naabi of course

Bill,
The mom with the 3 adult cubs were seen on the NCA side above what we called the 2nd marsh...being the 2nd away from our camp. The mom with the 6 cubs was on the Serengetti side just beyond where the woodlands turn into plains. Several guides I related the info to said they "knew" the mom with the 3 adult cubs. The other one with 6 cubs....well I guess she and her family are reltively new. I bet your guide can seek this info out by networking with some of the other guides. I sure hope you get to see them. Besides these to moms w/babies we saw 1 solitary individual, as well as a couple of brothers. Altogether... counting the babies we saw 14 cheetahs arounmd Ndutu in a week.
