David, these are great snaps; the cheetah cubs are really adorable! What timing and such good luck that you came across them and were able to watch them for hours! Do you have videos as well?

RE: kitabu, is this a domestic house cat? Beautiful!

Asante, Den

Hi Den,

Yes Kitabu is domestic, however his ancestry includes serval blood.
P.S we went with Kiliwarriors, I think you did too? We had the best trip imaginable.

David,
Thanks for the info on Ndutu and the Cubs. We spend four nights there so perhaps we will be lucky. I had some great sightings at Ndutu in 2006 sowho knows. I doubt mom will move the cubs very far, hunting must be great right now.

David, thanks for posting pictures of six fluffy cheetah cubs.

I had no idea you could cross servals with domestic cats.

Yes, I did use Kiliwarriors for one of my safaris. I was thinking some folks should be getting back and reporting soon from a post I saw awhile back. I always get a note from someone when Kiliwarriors are mentioned on the forum as I’ve been the only client that has remained somewhat active on Fodor’s. But now you can be the KW poster along with the others after their trips with your more recent experiences! I’m glad you had a good time; the Mollel family is very special.

I have never seen a domestic cat with Kitabu’s markings despite the fact I seem to inherit one every year or so from my son’s stable or when he brings one home from college and can not return after living the good life with human grandparents! Anyway, Kitabu is one gorgeous cat!

Looking forward to your Kiliwarrior report and more snaps!

Chuck,

At Ndutu we found another mom with 3 sub-adult cubs. Here are some photos of them.

Beautiful Cheetahs, thanks.

The Serval / domestic hybrid is known as a Savannah. There are a number of breeders that specialize in these cats and they are very expensive -- the closer to the Serval bloodline, the more expensive they are ($thousands). Many states in the U.S. prohibit or restrict the ownership of Savannahs as exotic hybrids.

Davgai: WOW, thanks for posting those! I'm even more excited now that I leave in less than 2 weeks and I'm also going with Kiliwarriors. You can bet I will be looking for these cheetah families, seeing the 6 cubs is amazing.

Did you travel in one of the Kiliwarriors new open sided vehicles?
