So many Ksars and so little time!
Which Ksar to visit and if they are in the general area where I could visit all three?
Ksar Ouled Abd El Halim
Ksar Ait Ben Haddou
Aït Benhaddou?
I have 9 nights in Marrakesh and realize I should do a excursion out of the city. Is it possible to do a 5 day RT excusion from Marrakesh stopping along the way to visit Ksars and Kasbah to Erg Chebbi?
Or should I take a day from Marrakesh and add the day to the excursion?
Thanks for your expert advice everyone!

Hi, artyguy,
I think you've got 2 different names of the same Ksar (Ait Ben Haddou); did you look at my TR (Morocco, A Visual Journey)? We really enjoyed Telouet, which is not far from Ait Ben Haddou.
Unless you have a specific reason for being in Marrakech for 9 nights, I would definitely take an excursion out of the city for 5 nights, stopping to see a few of the kasbahs and staying in the desert for a night. I think you'll find it visually stimulating and a good change from the intensity of Marrakech.
I don't remember if you are going to Essaouira, but that's also a lovely place to stay for a night or 2, and about 2 1/2-3 hours from Marrakech. Look at my TR to see what appeals (I should be posting Essaouira pix this weekend)

Thank you for your kind response. So one agency has offered this plan of action:
SEPTEMBER 18 2018. TRANSFER MARRAKECH TO AIT. IGHNDA STANDARD HB.
SEPTEMBER 19/20 2018. AIT TO MERZOUGA CAMP CHEBBI.
SEPTEMBER 21 2018. TRANSFER TO SKOURA (STOP IN RISSANI) DAR DAMIETTE. STANDARD HB.
SEPTEMBER 22 2018. DAY OUT TO DADES/TODRA ETC, NIGHT DAMIETTE HB.
SEPTEMBER 23 2018. TRANSFER TO MARRAKECH.
I'm concern that much of my time will be in the car?
What do you think?

Beautiful pictures and thank you for sharing your adventure! Would be great to get to the desert even for one night. Just need to figure out best way to do that. As I am traveling alone and do not drive, require a driver with air conditioning, especially during the hot September heat. Most of all to experience authentic Morocco! Thanks again!

A ksar is a fortified villiage (plural ksour), the defences of which are maintained by the community. A kasbah is a single residence whether a fortified merchant's house or a pasha's palace.
So within the ksar of Ait Benhaddou there are three or four kasbahs.
