Last time I stayed in a chain hotel by the airport. It was clean, modern, etc but there wasn't really anywhere to walk around outside so I ended up walking around the parking lot a few times!!
In Windsor I wanted to be no more than 2 blocks from the high street and Thames River. Somewhere to go for a nice stroll and when jet lag over took me the bed wasn't too far away.
Checked out some B&B's on TA as well as some small hotels like the Clarence.
Haven't been yet so I can't really say what the Clarence will be like. Again it depends on what you're looking for and your budget.

Thanks KathBC: I agree, staying in a chain hotel near the London Heathrow airport is no fun at all for 1 night. We did that once! Windsor sounds better. I'll be interested to hear how you liked it.
We are working on our flights.

Hi there
We live in Cape Town and holiday in America. We ALWAYS break the journey with an overnight in a chain hotel near the airport - literally just somewhere to shower and sleep - it makes all the difference
There is not much to do but it depends how busy you are before your flight - you may be glad of the down time
Glad you are coming to Cape Town

We live in NC. Last fall we flew economy plus on Delta and spent our first night at a place near JNB. It was lovely, and we got to relax, have a long hot shower, a beer and a good night sleep, plus a wonderful breakfast in a garden the next morning before we took off for the airport on our safari adventure. Coming from the US West Coast, it may depend on how you first get TO your transcontinental flight, as to whether or not you want to overnight on the other side of the Atlantic. We used miles for a hotel night in London on a previous trip, and it worked out splendidly.
