Shoes on Tanzania safari?
My safari is approaching! What to wear?! It's first 2 weeks in September with The Wild Source... should I wear a pair of comfy Merrell or Brooks type sneakers like I do at home and something else at camp (also closed to protect from bugs)? The sneakers have mesh, which is nice and breathable, but may not be good on safari... ? What have you all worn? Thanks

Footwear seems to be the popular topic!

If the mesh is not holes so that bugs can get in, then mesh tennis shoes should be fine if you are not doing any walking safaris.

I keep the flip flops for inside room or tent. If wearing outdoors and with acacia needles regularly falling off trees they can easily cut thru the flimsy rubber and then what! Wounded and bandaged. A good thick sole if you don't want to wear closed shoes are Teva-type. I never wear closed shoes outdoors as most time spent inside a vehicle and for sure I do watch where I'm walking... always.

On three safaris to Africa, we have always worn Keen Newport H2s and Chaco Zx style sandals.
