Sheraton Royal Gardens - Cairo

Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Royal Gardens? How is the hotel and location?

Have you stayed at any Sheratons? If so, what are they like?

Will be in Cairo for 2 1/2 days. Looking for good location at a reasonable price.
thanks

This is not the most recent news.... (since I was there 3 years ago..) But IF I remember right, there are 3 Sheratons in Cairo.... and 2 of them looked pretty dumpy. We were surprised at that... we stayed at the central Marriott in Cairo for $99 or so and it was very very nice! A huge well run upscale Marriott. Hope this helps a bit...

I don't know how "reasonably priced" it is, but the Nile Hilton is easy walking distance to the Egyptian Museum, and they can help arrange tours to Pyramids, etc.

Spent a few nights at the Royal Gardens a few years ago. Excellent place with large, comfortable rooms. Restaurants are excellent. It's hidden on a back street in Giza. Good location if you have a ride but there are other better places such as the Nile Sheraton as mentioned, Le Meridien Pyramids, etc.

Cost was, as all Egypt is, comparatively low but I cannot provide a number. As to whether it was "reasonable," I've never been able to figure out what that word means.

(Interesting because the stay was supposed to be a few days' stopover on the way to Yemen. But at the last minute we diverted to Greece for a week. Seeing all the places we visited now on television , especially Olympiad, this week is wonderful.)

The price we have reserved at the Royal Gardens is a bargain - $65 per night.
We would like to stay aroung $100 (if possible). We hear the location is a little removed, but thought with that price room, we could get full day tours. What do you think?

I have heard good reports on this hotel but the major drawback is that it is far away from everything (10 minutes by car from the Pyramids, but 20 to 30 minutes - depending from traffic - from the Museum and other major sites in Cairo.
