Seychelles - Four Seasons or Banyan Tree

Hello all...I need some help.

I'm booking my honeymoon and cant decide between the new Four seasons hotel and the Banyan Tree in Seychelles. Has anyone been to either of them or anyone been to both. Any pros or cons that may help me decide. Also, any tips on negotiating a better rate. It appears that the Four Seasons isn't as flexible to negotiate as the Banyan Tree is. You would think that in this economy, both resorts should be hurting.

Thanks for your help.

I've only been to the Banyan Tree (and it was wonderful) so cannot do any comparisons for you.

However, the best rates in Seychelles are not usually available directly from the resorts but rather from tour operators. The TOs usually get very nice rates and the properties encourage them by not competing against them with price.

Thanks for the help. Can you recommend a tour operator that you have used or trust?

Would be pleased to give you the woman I use, who is extraordinarily expert on Seychelles, if you can provide an email address. It's probably not completely appropriate for this board for various reasons.

You can check Mason's Travel at www.masonstravel.com/

Also, Seychelles Exclusive at www.seyexclusive.com/

There's another... believe something "Creole....... (sorry, but a Google search for Seychelles Tour Operators will probably bring this up)

As above, prices usually better thru tour operators and they can also coordinate your meet/greet, transfers, internal flights/tours if you wish to visit other islands... in other words "one-stop shopping" and a single contact!

Me too, I am trying to decide between the Banyan Tree and Four Seasons in the Seychelles for mid July. If anyone knows both, your recommendations would really be appreciated. The Banyan Tree is a bit old but there is a good deal there. The Four Seasons are always good although the price higher. As it is quite new i was worried about construction noise from the section yet to be completed although they tell me it's far from the other villas. Thanks, Sadhbh

Banyan "old" - ugh!
Less than 10/years, if I recall correctly.

Hey, in that heat/humidity, guess we'd all be looking old. Furniture and fabrics take a beating in this type of environment.

Sandi...you were right. www.seyexclusive.com offered me much cheaper rates than I was able to find anywhere even online. Thanks so much!!!

Does anyone know what kind of power converter I would need in the Seychelles? Is it just the same type of converter you would use in Europe?

NoFlyZone -- if you're lurking around, I'd love to get the contact info for the woman you mentioned who is an expert in the Seychelles. We're trying to get a good rate at the Four Seasons if possible. I'm at ax AT northjersey DOT com. Thanks!

axisist - suggest you start a new thread rather than one that is 2/yrs old. Just ask your questions.
