Whilst this is perfectly correct and has been for years, does it mean that is OK to continualy upgrade and increase costs (other than for inflation)?

I'm afraid saying this but as long as the market bears it - a clear yes. Operators of the commercial concessions are in stiff competition. Leases are given to those who present the best management plan and offer the most income to the Government.

Have arrived very late, and missed the insult....but msut agree with Rick and Chuck. Would like to point out to all who complain about Botswana's cost, is it is all an economic reality of supply and demand....anyway I had a terrible five days at Zib and Selinda August of 06, saw the dogs one night for about five minutes...had a terrible guide in Selinda, worst of my many trips to Africa (starting in 1984 when I was lucky enough to camp at the bottom of the crate for three nights, after hitchiking from Nairaobi to Arusha), but did have BB in Zib, and he was wonderful, but we were just very unlucky....

I have reviewd this entire thread and can find no comments regarding the situation we found at Motswiri. Does nobody think that it is wrong to market this as an exclusive game viewing camp when it is neither exclusive nor has much in the way of game (at least at this time of year). Is there anybody out there who has been there and was equally disappointed?

Unfortunately I do not get enough time to read through this Fodors site often. I have read a few of your trip reports in general and half the time it really seems that you do not know what you are talking about!

I know what you are thinking - I am not an American. I do agree that things are changing in general because of the American public as a whole but this is business and quite frankly we all know that money and numbers talk!

You give a very negative spin on issues in general and almost everything you write about I AM an expert in. There seems to be a lot that you "miss". Before you comment on something, research it and get a little perspective and knowledge.

I congratulate you on reading a few of my trip reports. This is the second I have ever posted, the first was earlier this year in relation to a request for info on my recent trip to Zimbabwe, and this is my second. Perhaps you could explain how you conclude that I do not know what I am talkng about, and which statements in these reports are incorrect?

Like the majority of people who ask questions or provide answers I am not an expert. I do however try to provide assistance and comment on things that I have experienced. Which items do you consider I give a negative spin to?

There is nothing wrong with mosquito nets, they are especially useful in areas which have a problem with mosquitos. I simply do not view that they should be used in a decorative role when those that need them do not have them.

Jackssid,

I've been to Zib a few times between 1998 & 2005 and NEVER seen a mosquito there.

I agree with Sniktawk... mosquito nets are completely unnecessary during the dry season.

Geoff.

For Cantona7,

I do know where Steve and Maryna are now, they are working as Camp Managers in Tanzania at Swala.

I am also a Brit living in S.A. & you do sound a bit pompus!

Enough of that though. I just replied to you specifically becuase you got my back up. Actually I am getting a little more time on my hands of late and I am going to be reading through these forumns on a more regular basis. I have many points to make in general about the Safari industry from my +- 20 years experience in it. I actually have positive information on a few countries and will be doing a couple of trip reports myself in the near future.

I am sure we will meet again, although I also do many trips in South Africa and East Africa and have not done one to Bots for awhile. Will go again soon though......

Are you unable to afford me the answers to my questions, it would be nice to know how you come to your conclusions. I do not wish to put anybody's back up!
I look forward to reading your trip reports in the near future

sniktawk,

Thank you for the trip report.

Why is everybody insulting each other?? Is fodors not a forum where everyone and anyone can post their opinion and past experiences freely? If you do not agree with someone, say it, but please stop this mud throwing.

Regards - KL

Apparently I made "insulting" references to a certain nationality. I did apologise and the comments were censored. It seems that some people question some other parts of my report and apparently consider them negative or untrue. I have asked those responsible what it is that causes such consternation but have got no replies.
Thank you for your thanks for my report.

At last I have an excuse for the absence of game at Motswiri, this comes directly from Linyanti Explorations. It is apparently as a result of " I can only imagine that this is poor guiding & will be attended to immediately ". The limited game drives at Selinda Zib are caused by " I am onto this & have already been hammering all our guides before your email arrived. Seems they may have had it too easy of late with the game viewing we have been experiencing along the spillway". That's OK then!

At least you got a response to your email. Even if the answer is not completely satisfactory, it means someone is listening and cared enough to respond to a customer's complaint. I have not always found that to be the case in my experience.

I guess your correct it shows that they are caring people.
I suppose that expecting anything else for $12,000 is a tough assignment!

Have customer service, quality of guiding and safety (see other thread) anything to do with the price...? From my experiences I doubt it.

Hey Sniktawk

I see you are still being negative.

Do you know what a Yorkshire Terrier is? It is a little type of dog that is more like a large, hairy rat. These animals tend to just yap constantly and pretty much do nothing else (besides slobber and fart). They are very irritating and tend to be quite thick.

You remind me of a Yorkie.

Enjoy your next holiday!
