Safari Operator advice in tanzania
I need advice on selecting a operatar for a safari in Lake Manyara / Ngorongoro Parks.
I have been quoted $650 for a 2day 1 night.
Is this fair?
Thanks --- Mike

Is this a driving itinerary for 2 people from Arusha? Is the price per person or...? Again, what time of year?
I took a high season safari in 2006 with a WIDE range of accommodation level--from "exclusive" to hanging with the roiling masses and everything in between--for 3 people (we split the single supplement) and we averaged a bit less than 450 per person per night including one flight.
Last time I went to Manyara in 2004 I camped, so I can't advise about lodges there. I think E Uonoto is perhaps the most luxe of those you mention, but I it's outside the park. Depends what you're looking for. Outside of Manyara there is a moderately priced tented camp called Kirurumu.
See go-safari.com for photos of camps, locations and rack rates. But keep in mind that a tour op may be able to get a better deal for you. On the other hand, factor in park fees, fuel, paying for your driver guide, etc. In other words, it's hard to estimate what's fair based only on a camp or lodge's rack rates.
There are people on this board who can advise you about pricing, but I'm not one of them. I just spend whatever I possibly can. However, the more details you provide here, the better advice you'll receive.
Best of luck!

First, when are you traveling?
Where are you overnighting?
Manyara (lodge/camp, which?) or Ngorongoro (lodge, which?)
Indicate the exact itinerary
Day 1 - drive to - activity - o/n?
Day 2 - drive to - activity/ies - then return to Arusha?
Included in your price are your hotel accomm with 3/meals daily; park fees, fee to go down into the crater (once or twice); vehicle, guide/driver, petrol, insurance.
Price alone isn't the determining factor.
