Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge

Hi there knowledgeable ones - Sabi Sabi doesn't always seem to get the greatest reviews on this forum. We are looking at going to Bush Lodge in early April. I believe that they have upgraded the lodge lately. Firstly, anyone been there since they have upgraded? And, secondly, I would really like anyone's thoughts on their rooms - how do they compare to other lodges - from what I can see they look more outdated. Thoughts please!!

I was recently in the area and did an inspection of the lodge. They have recently spent an enormous amount of money on the decor in the main building with new pool and decks overlooking the waterhole. It really is stunning and surpasses most lodges I have visited. The rooms are all suites and very very comfortable. I stayed at Earth Lodge and had magnificent game viewing.

Hi Zenz,

Thanks for your response - as a point of comparison, what other lodges have you visited in the Sands and how would you rate it i.t.o best to worst?

Hi Bushmad
Lion Sands River lodge rooms are tiny but Ivory's rooms are great.
Mala Mala Main camp rooms need an upgrade but the new Rattrays rooms are magnificent.
Londolozi rooms generally a bit tired.
Singita Ebony and Boulders rooms are great.
Best to worst: Rattrays, Singita,Ivory,Sabi's Bush Lodge Londolozi,Mala main camp.
Decor and interior design are always very subjective and tastes as you know vary. I hope I have been of assistance

Hi again Bushmad
Sorry, Forgot to slot in Earth Lodge - unique - so difficult to place but maybe with the Singitas and Rattrays.

Bushmad, I stayed at bush Lodge last two years ago with my wife and kids. Frankly I thought that the accommodation was great. The rooms are huge, they have a dressing room, sitting room, large bathroom with tub, inside and outside showers. In addition to the bedroom.

I gather that the upgrades to the rooms were completed in 2001 or thereabouts. I understand that they reduced the capacity of Bush lodge and now have 24 regular suites and a presidential, which peeked into one morning, now that is a suite of note.

I agree that Sabi gets a bad rap on these boards, not exactly sure why because I thought that their entire experience was/is great. I have been around and am something of a wildlife maniac, I found the game drives to be everything and more than I expected.
