Check out the sites v-flyer.com and flyertalk.com for all the info you could possibly need. We sat upstairs in Prem. Econ. which was good since you have your own small cabin and UC was in front of us, but it can get warm upstairs. The bar/massage area is downstairs so you may not want to be seated near them but check out the sites I mentioned and ask questions on flyertalk-you'll get plenty of advice on everything! UC looked fantastic with the new suites-enjoy!

Moremiles has sent you to the right places. Also seatguru.com. I loved the upper deck until we got put there with some sports star and his bratty 5 kids!! What is usually heaven became hell quickly because it is a small room and once served, you often don't see the FAs as they stay in the back upper cabin. But hopefully you will not have this and then, it is a wonderful flight!

I agree with the other posts - check out the seat maps. Definitely avoid the seats near the bar. If you are travelling alone then there are some seats without anyone 'opposite'. Otherwise all seats are good. I had a fantastic flight. The lounge at Heathrow is great and you can pre-book treatments on-line.

I did SFO-LHR on the upper deck and LHR-SFO on the lower deck. The upper deck is smaller, and a bit quieter since there aren't as many people and there aren't a lot of people walking back and forth. I think if you wanted to sleep, the upper deck is a better choice.

Otherwise, the main deck is fine; though, I agree with the others to not get a seat too near the bar area.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but VA is using A340 for LHR-NBO route. There is no upper deck, only front and/or back. Upper class is in front.

I think the OP stating "I am flying Upper Class with VA to London enroute to NBO" implies that the question is about the trip from (somewhere) to London.

With VS' "herringbone" seat layout I don't know that it will make much difference, but in general I enjoy the upper deck on the 747 for the relative quiet. Note the overhead bins are always much smaller than downstairs, owing to the curvature of the fuselage.

Last I knew, not all VS 744s had Upper Class seating upstairs anyway, so I'd be sure yours does - might be a moot point.
