Question for ShayTay

Hi, Sharon--
I seem to remember that you mentioned in one of your posts the ground operator for OAT's Ultimate Africa trip. Can't locate the thread, though. Could you give that name again?
Thanks,
Barbara

Can't manage to get Fodor's to get my email address right. Disregard [email protected]. It should be [email protected].

Hi Barbara. I'm familiar with OAT's ground operators in East Africa, but not their southern Africa trip (Ultimate Africa.) There are several trip reports about that particular trip here on Fodor's, so you might do a search and see if the safari outfitters are mentioned. If not, pose the question to the Fodorite that took the trip. FYI: OAT's safari outfitter for "Safari Serengeti" in Tanzania is Kibo Guides. For OAT's Kenya/Tanzania combo, it's Pollman's in Kenya and Roy's in Tanzania.

Thanks, Sharon--
Guess the old memory failed me again. I could have sworn that info came from one of your posts. No wonder I couldn't find it.
BTW, I've enjoyed your input through the years. And your photos. We were in Kenya and Tanzania two years ago, and now it'll be southern Africa with OAT's Ultimate Africa, leading to my curiousity re the ground operator. There's been good feedback on the board regarding this particular trip, and we're looking forward to it. Leaving on September 12 and adding the extension to Cape Town. We had booked one of our free days there with Selwyn to do a private tour for us--my good travel partner Jeri and me. Selwyn, though, is among the top three travel guides in contention for the Wanderlust award and will be going to London for the final awards during the time we will be there. He has arranged for his brother Robert to stand in for him. The two are on the same page, so we are looking forward to a very special experience in Cape Town and environs at the end of our trip.
Once again, thanks.
Barbara

I'm sure you and Jeri will enjoy your trip. We'll be looking forward to your trip report when you return.

We took OAT's Ultimate Africa trip in 2005 and at that time, Wilderness Safaris was the ground operator. I don't know that it has changed since then. OAT is still using the same camps as in 2005.

We leave TOMORROW on OAT's Best of Kenya and Tanzania! EXCITED! !! The ground operator is listed as Alpha Travel.

ARP Group consists of Alpha Travel (UK) Ltd., Ranger Safaris Ltd, and Pollman's Tours & Safaris Ltd. per the ATTA website. Alpha appears to be the London marketing office for the two actual safari outfitters. Have a great trip, Arkay!
