Private Vehicles - Botswana
Am travelling to Botswana in 4 1/2 weeks (counting the days!!!) and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the costs were for private vehicles? We will be at Kwara Island, Duba Plains, and Zib. I was just curious as to what the usual going rate is for having your own jeep. Having been on safaris before, I do know that it can work out sometimes that you do have a private jeep, but I just wanted to price it...just in case. Thanks.

Have tried emailing one of them a couple of times, but I don't seem to be getting a response. In any case, I was hoping to get some insight into it, and to see what people thought of the experience.

I will be at Wilderness camps in June and just received information from them. A private vehicle and guide will cost "in the region of about U$450 a day, which covers the cost of the vehicle and the guide." The guide is available to you at all times.

Hi Guys
Kwando will be charging $250 per day and Wilderness will be charging $375 per day.
These prices are direct from the companies for November 2006. I got these quotes last week, as I am planning 3 weeks in Botswana during November 2006.

Hello,
I have the same Wilderness rate as Africa. However, at Kwando, the cost depends on which guide you have (some are more expensive than others) and whether you have both a private guide and a private vehicle or just a private vehicle. Booking a private vehicle without a private guide is closer to $200.
Cheers,
Julian

Thanks for all the feedback. I may have to try it out!
Hari, I will be at Kwara Island (I hope) from May 26 - May 31. The last time my agent checked in with them (a couple of weeks ago) they were fairly certain that the camp would be open for our visit. That doesn't necessarily imply that they will be open for May 1. There is still nothing on the Kwando website about it. The contact said they didn't want to put anything on the website until they were 100% sure. So we'll see....
