Private and short tour of Cairo Area: Recommendations?

We are taking our 12 year old kids on an educational trip around the world and will stop in Cairo for 3-4 nights in late September and am looking for a reputable agent to put together a tour for us. Any r3ecommendations? We need ground arrangements only. Anyone suggest a hotel with big room and quiet/convenient location?

Thanks

I am booking through Lady Egypt.. as many on here have. I go in September so cannot attest to the tour being fabulous, but I am sure I will be able to.

Our frequent poster, Casual_Cairo (Debbie) also does great tours. http://www.casualcairodetours.com/

Just throwing this out, but I would do 2 nights in Cairo and 2 in Luxor. That way you could see the major sites of Cairo and also have the kids see the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, etc in Luxor.

I completely agree with grcxx3 about splitting your time between Cairo and Luxor. Each can be done in two days, and both are very worth seeing. In fact, Karnak Temple in Luxor was my "number one" antiquity in Egypt. We also thought seeing the tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens was phenomenal, not just because they're well preserved, but also because the process of them having been "found" is so amazing.

I suggest 1-1/2 days in Luxor and 2-1/2 in Cairo.
One day for a complete Pyramids Tour
One day for a city tour of Islamic/Coptic Cairo
Half day for the Cairo Museum fly to Luxor
Half day for the East Bank of Luxor
One day for the West Bank of Luxor.

Technically, I'd put the Luxor days in the middle of the trip so you are back in Cairo for your departure flight and not booking flights that might leave you sitting in Luxor as your International flight takes off. Don't do that to yourself.
