Thought that I would thank everyone for your tips and tell you that I ended up going to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve which was fabulous! We saw almost everything and even our guide said that he hadn't seen some so I was pleased-hippos in the lake;giraffes crossing the field;elephants walking by the road, etc.I loved it!
We stayed in a strange area and it was covered in security-our airline even had a security person at the end of the hall that we had to check in and out with.Several people with Sony got attacked outside of the hotel the day we left so we stayed in groups.
Highlight of the World Cup was having Shakira on my flight home up in business class which I was working! She was very sweet to sign a program for my 28 year old son from the World Cup with the inscription, "Sorry you couldn't make it to the World Cup.Hope I see you in Brazil!Love and kisses Shakira".He was thrilled!
I could have gotten tickets from a fellow flight attendant but didn't have the money ($900) for the ticket so wore my orange wig and coat and partied at the hotel with the others.
Lovely people in Pretoria but I definitely prefer Cape Town!

Hi dutyfree!
Thanks for sharing that with us. Ouch, yes, Sunnyside Park is definitely not the best area...but glad you enjoyed your time with us nonetheless. And yes...good old Pretoria can't compete with Cape Town in terms of natural beauty etc...but the folks in Pretoria are a friendly down to earth bunch of people. Glad you had such a good time in Pilanesberg - it's always special to have good encounters with some of our wonderful animals. Hope to see you back soon!!
It obviously won't have the same impact as Shakira's, but "love and kisses from Living4Safari" ;-) (- sorry, my off-beat sense of humour...)
Kind regards
