Pilanesberg Day Trip

Has anyone taken a day trip to Pilanesberg from Sun City? If so, please give me more information. My husband and I are going to SA with our one year old and we thought we'd park ourselves in Sun City and tag team to Pilanesberg.

Hi,
I live in South Africa and have done quite a few day trips to Pilansberg. If you're in the vicinity it's a nice outing. Cheap to get in at the gate - about 3 months ago, paid R15 per adults and R25 per car (something like that). Your chances of seeing at least elephant and rhino is great and you sometimes strike it lucky with predators. You won't see the big concentrations of animals that you might want to see, but they have a nice variety of animals. An added bonus with a one year old is that they have lots of hides where you can sit at the water and observe the animals. Hope it helps.

Also local South African. You can even do a day trip to Sun City/Pilanesberg from Johannesburg or Pretoria. (That just by the by.) If we get (foreign) visitors and we are pushed for time, I have no problem in taking them to Pilanesberg - it is close by and your chances of seeing most of the Big 5 is quite good. You get a map of the park on entry and the roads are well marked.
