Pamushana is a luxury lodge located in the Malilangwe Private Game Reserve in southeastern Zimbabwe (near the border of Zimbabwe/Mozambique/South Africa). Not only does this game reserve boast the Big Five but it also features cheetah, wild dog and not only white rhino but also black rhino...it is one of the best places to see rhinos in all of Africa.

As if that is not enough, Malilangwe also features the Little Six:

Little Six: the six species of beautiful small antelope. There are klipspringer in the sandstone hills, Sharpes grysbok in the thickets, grey duiker everywhere, steenbok in the mopane woodlands, rare Livingstone’s suni near Sosiji Hill, and Oribi.

Nowhere else in Africa besides Malilangwe is it possible to see the Little Six and the Super Seven (Big Five plus Cheetah & Wild Dog).

Here is the latest update, as well as more information about Malilangwe Game Reserve:

Within Malilangwe's 100,000 acre private game reserve, there are only two lodges, Pamushana and the more moderately priced Nduna. If there is a more exclusive private game reserve in Africa, I don't know where.

NapaMatt,

I am tentatively scheduled for next late May/June for Zimbabwe & Mozambique:

Stanley & Livingstone, Victoria Falls (1)
Vundu, Mana Pools (2)
Ruckomechi, Mana Pools (2)
Musango, Lake Kariba (2)
The Hide, Hwange (2)
Somalisa, Hwange (2)
Pamushana, Malilangwe (3)
Marlin Lodge, Bazaruto Archipelago (2)
Benguerra, Bazaruto Archipelago (2)
Quilalea, Quirimbas Archipelago (2)
Medjumbe, Quirimbas Archipelago (2)

Hopefully I can fly out of Dar Es Salaam but I will likely have to return all the way to Joburg and fly out the same night. That should be a mere 45 hours from the time I leave Medjumbe to the time I arrive home!

Even with 22 nights, 14 of them on safari and 8 at exclusive beach lodges, it is never enough time.

Hari,

I have never dived before but I would be a fool not to get SCUBA certified prior to visiting these four great properties in Mozambique.

Likely, I will start SCUBA classes after returning from my Botswana/South Africa trip in November.

Hari, how long have you been diving and where has been the best diving spot for you, thus far???

Rocco,

I got certified in the Maldives many years ago. I have only so far dived in both the Maldives and Krabi, Thailand. To me, Maldives has been awesome!!! Lots of fantastic properties in the Maldives.....great diving and good seafood.

Rocco, if you don't get certified, at a minimum invest in a good lens and snorkel, so you can snorkel in Moz. If the reef is close to the beach, the snorkeling can be tremendous.
